Practical 12 Standing Waves in a String
Introduction
In this practical a vibrator is used to set up a standing wave in a string whose length and tension can be varied. The equation for the velocity of the wave is given and student have to devise a method to determine the frequeny of the source. Since the aim of the experiment is to find a known value it is possible for students to fulfill all the requirements of the DCP and CE assessment criteria.

Assessment
This practical can be used to assess DCP and CE, students should follow the same procedure as used on all the practicals up to this point in the programme. Details of the actual requirements can not be given here as it would give to much information to my students and I wouldn't be able to use this practical for assessment.
