Practical 12 Measuring the Speed of Sound in Air

Introduction

This is a standard practical using a resonance tube to find the speed of sound in air, students are given some basic theory but not told how to analyse their data or what graph to plot. Since the aim is to find the speed of sound it is possible for students to fulfill all the requirements of the DPP and CE assessment criteria.

Assessment

This practical can be used to assess DCP and CE, students should follow the same procedure as used on all the practicals up to this point in the programme. Details of the actual requirements can not be given here as it would give to much information to my students and I wouldn't be able to use this practical for assessment.
