Simulations
Although simulations have been around for many years their use in physics teaching didn't really take off until the development of the digital projector and more recently the interactive whiteboard. There are two main ways of using simulations, either as demonstrations or as part of the practical programme. There are literally thousands of free simulations available, all you have to do is google a topic followed by java applet and you are sure to find something. The sheer amount of resources can at times cause problems,it can sometimes take a lot of searching before you find the really good ones. On these pages you will find some of the best simulations related to the different parts of the IB syllabus. Alternatively you could just go to the Phet site developed by Colorado University where you will find pretty much everything you need.
Most simulations are Java applets but some are Flash, you can downolad these and put them directly into your SMART board notes. To do this in firefox choose Page Info from the tools menu then select the media tab and you will see an .swf file. Simply download this. There are some great ones here.
